The Dreaded Mast Cell Tumor
COMMENTS FROM LOVINMYPUP:
This is an excellent article on Mast cell tumors. In the yesterday’s article we talked about Rocco’s story. Rocco came from show stock and was a beautiful black and tan Doberman. About age 3 he began getting benign fatty tumors. Each time one appeared we would take him to his Vet for a needle biopsy. Many many fatty nodules were biopsied. Nothing ever found. At age 8 , he was diagnosed with bone cancer which had metastasized from an internal tumor.
Bella is our 3rd Dobie. She is my licensed Mobility Service Dog. She is 6 1/2 years old. This breed is among the dogs that are prone to these “fatty Tumors”. A couple of months ago we discovered a small tumor. She has already been to her Vet and it is not cancerous. We will be watching.her closely. Knowledge is the key to success.
